Engine Shed occupies a former Victorian railway building on Station Approach, part of Bristol, right next to Temple Meads station. Established in 2013 through a partnership between Bristol City Council, the University of Bristol and the West of England Local Enterprise Partnership, it’s now one of the city’s most iconic buildings and part of an innovation network including Bristol Innovations, SETsquared Bristol and Eagle Labs.
The space offers private offices for 4 to 20 people, fixed desks in coworking areas and a flexible Members’ Lounge for hot desking from £150 a month or £20 a day, alongside five meeting rooms and three event spaces in historically significant surroundings. As a non-profit, all surplus generated is reinvested into projects supporting equitable growth of the local economy, with bike storage, a café, showers and a dog-friendly policy for Platform 14, the coworking area.
Having welcomed over 30,000 visitors and 1,000-plus events a year, Engine Shed gives Bristol’s startups, academics and community organisations a genuinely well-connected, purpose-driven base for co-working right by the station.
